Where to buy a PlayStation 4 in Mauritius

I recently got a PlayStation 4 because my PlayStation 3 died out on me. There are not many games I'm looking to play but I figured it would be easier to just go for the PS4 since I watched my blurays (including 3D) on my PS3. I figured I would buy a PS4 instead of a normal bluray player as the PS4 has tons of nice features including Netflix which is now available in Mauritius.

I checked through most stores around Mauritius before I finally got a PlayStation 4 and these are my conclusions:

  • Don't buy your new console in major outlets such as Galaxy. The consoles are very expensive there. Sure, you get a game or two in the bundle, but it is almost always cheaper to get the console and the game separately. In many cases, you get crap games anyway. Considering how expensive the games can be, you don't want to end up with crap ones.
  • Cellbest and One O One have the best prices. Depending on your haggling skills, you can even knock the One O One price a bit.
  • I hear MicroMania is great too, but I have not been able to confirm this.
  • The average price is Rs 13,500 for the console without any games. If you go ahead and buy a couple of games with the console, One O One and MicroMania are very happy to negotiate a package.
As for the games, you can of course buy them new from the gaming shops around Mauritius. The game usually have the same prices everywhere from what I've seen so far. However, thanks to Facebook, it is now very easy to buy and exchange used (and sometimes new) games.

These are the groups where I've seen the most activity on Facebook:

  1. Sell / Swap PS4 Games Mauritius
  2. PS4 Club Mauritius Buy/Sell/Exchange
There are several other groups but these two seem to have the most traffic and my friends were able to buy games at great prices through them. Another option is to directly buy the games online from the PlayStation store if you have fibre optics and are willing to spend part of your bandwidth dowloading these games.

03 February 2017 update: Click here for the 2017 results

For those who are still looking for the results, they are available on the Engen Bagatelle Facebook page. For reasons only the Engen marketing team will know, these results were not posted on their website.

I have also saved a copy of the results - click on the image to open a larger version which is still sort of unreadable. It's like they are doing their best to discourage the winners from claiming their prizes.
